Where can I download Java API for LiveCycle Output to convert .doc to .pdf

Folks,

I came across this page

http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/es/sdkHelp/programmer/sdkHelp/wwhe lp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=sdkHelp&file=quickStarts_Gen eratePDF.11.2.html

which gives a sweet code to convert .doc to .pdf...BUT I am not able to find the source (compiled or otherwise) Java API which contains the required Java classes which is doing the actual conversion.

Looking forward to a reply from this lively forum !

Thanks,
Nikunj

GeneratePDF Service API error: PDFMaker reported an error while printing the document

I am trying to use the converting from native file format to PDF using java example and I keep getting this error
"Error occurred: ALC-PDG-010-012-PDFMaker reported an error while printing the document."

I installed the LiveCycle for JBoss using Turnkey.

I created a war (dev.war) with a single servlet which executes the code as described in the example. I also includes the required jars in the classpath (dev.war/WEB-INF/lib)

Any ideas what might caused this exception?

Here is the stacktrace as I found it in the log:

Issues with Stage Folder - Adobe Livecycle Watch Folders Technique

$

After converting TIF files to PDFA/1-b, we found that the original TIFF files were removed by Adobe LC and moved on to the preserve folder as expected, from the temp folder on stage. After moving the original files to preserve, the temp folders created by Adobe LC were not deleted. Due to this, further processing by Adobe LC was halted. I landed-up manually deleting the temp folders within the share folder, and i found Adobe LC started processing the TIF files again from the input folder.

Is there a setting that needs to be changed on the AdminUI or is this an abnormal behavior or does this require a configuration change? Can someone help me to get rid of this abnormal behavior.

"this computer must be connected to the network" message

I am not sure if this is the correct forum, so my apology if I'm in the wrong place.
I am a subscriber to a service that uses LiveCycle. I have downloaded a pdf to read and when I click on it I get a "This computer must be connected to the network in order to open this document".
I am connected to the web. I use a firewall router between my DSL modem and my mac. I have not had any problems before this. Of course I could physically disconnect the firewall router but that's not a good solution for ongoing use. Are there specific ports that LiveCycle needs?

Mac OS 10.5.5
Adobe Professional 8.1.3
Linksys VPN BEFVP41 firewall & VPN router

Is there a specific port that needs to be open? or firewall setting? We have not had this problem with other accounts.

Thanks in advance

PDF Generator, WatchFolder problem

I've successfully installed PDF Generator on a server.
I've tried to convert native files to the PDF using adminUI console
and it works! Also it works with really cool AIR application to
convert files to the PDF with just simple drag&drop.
But the WatchFolder endpoint is not working (see the exception below which I've c&p from the failure directory)
for the WF settings I was using ConvertAllFileTypesToPDF: 1.0 service,
and configured the settings for the input and output variable as followed:
inputDocument: *.*
output PDF document: %F.%E.pdf

but as I've said at the beginning it is not working, here's the exception:

Creating PDF's - Cannot get Arial to work - only getting MyriadPro (Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.2 + Adobe Output ES Server on Linux (SUSE10))

Hi

I am using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.2 + Adobe Output ES Server on Linux (SUSE10) to create PDF's from input XML.

I have had some trouble getting Arial fonts which are used in my LiveCycle Designer created XDP's to be produced in the resulting PDF using the java API or the Process Flow (watched folder) in Output ES.  I have put Arial TTF fonts into both the Server Fonts and Customer Fonts folders and the Arial font still seems to be coming out as MyriadPro in the final PDF.

Is there something I am doing wrong ?

Static vs. Dynamic Forms

$

I thought that I understood static vs dynamic forms, but what I'm seeing has me stumped.  Here's the issue:

I have a form that requires multiple instances of a subform, based on repeating nodes in XML data.  Inside each subform instance there are data fields, but I can't bind them directly to the XML because the values require some calculation based on the data passed in.  So, I have a javascript loop in the containing subform that creates a new instance of the repeating subform and sets the rawValues of the underlying data fields.  The javascript is in the Initialize event.  I'm passing the .xdp into Output for rendering.  The script is set to run on the Server.

The issue is that when I look at the resulting PDF file in Reader, I do have the correct number of subform instances displayed.  However the data fields reflect the data from the first instance, so that I might have five sections that all look the same and the data is correct for the first section.  The form will render fine in the Designer preview if I set the form preview type to Dynamic, but the behavior will replicate the Output behavior if I set the preview to Static.

What I understood is that having a static form will mean that the form will not *re-render* in Reader, but the initial form rendering in Output should create the subforms correctly.  I am getting multiple instances, they just don't reflect the correct data values.

XMLFormService Error importing image. Unsupported image format.

Hello,

I'm getting the following error when trying to import an image into a form:

2010-10-04 08:56:35,717 WARN  [com.adobe.document.XMLFormService] ALC-XTG-017-936: [8392] Error importing image. Unsupported image format.

2010-10-04 08:56:35,717 WARN  [com.adobe.document.XMLFormService] ALC-XTG-029-461: [8392] XFAImageService: Image cannot be resolved for node: ImageField1.

The strange thing is that it works fine on our production server, yet it fails in development.  I've restarted jboss, flushed tmp, work, and data, replaced the images, but still nothing.  The image that won't load is a 1 pixel by 1 pixel JPG image, so it's not like it could be too large or anything.
Please help if you have any insight into this problem.
Thanks!

Upgrading From Altercast to Livecycle

Hi

I was looking for some direction.  We currently use Adobe Document Server 5.0 and the Altercast Web Service to pass XML to a template and for it to pass us back a pdf document.  We have been advised that Lifecycle is the way forward.  I was wondering if the Output Module would be the correct module to use for this?  Does anybody have any pointers in this direction.

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Many Thanks

Convert interactive form with digitally signed XML to PDF/a

$

Hi all,

I wonder if it should be possible to convert a form that contains digitally signed XML into a PDF/a?

I have tried the ConvertToPDFA service in LC ES 2.5, but it does not seem to work as I expect. During the conversion I wonder why 3 things happen:

1. The PDF/a shows as a PDF/a in Reader - however in the PDFAConversionResult the "isPDFa" node is set to false.

2. In my resulting PDF/a I get all my pages twice. Meaning if my original form was 1 page I get 2 pages in my resulting PDF/a, the last page without data in the fields.

3. The resulting PDF/a does not show as containing digitally signed data - however the input Form does show up as the data being digitally signed.

Is this a bug or does any one of you have an idea of how I should approach this challenge?

Thanks in advance

Sincerely

Kim Christensen

toImage issue with Livecycle ES2 after migration from ES

Recently upgraded to LivecycleES2 and using OutputES2 component to perform the pdf to Image conversion. The application is using the new endpoints to the Livecycle ES2 deployed on Websphere application server 7.The application still has Livecycle ES API using old method toImage to perform

pdf to Tiff converstion :

tiffDoc = convertPDFClient.toImage(pdfDoc, spec);

Unfortunately the size of the resulting document when pointing to new ES2 livecycle server is only 8 bytes. Infact the image file produced is such that all image editor say "No preview available" since its size is only 1KB. Where as the size comes just fine when running against the old ES livecycle instance.

The whole code is as below :

public byte[] pdf2Tiff(byte[] pdf) throws LiveCycleException {

        log.trace("Entering pdf2Tiff");

        if (log.isTraceEnabled()) log.trace("pdf size: " + pdf.length);

        Document pdfDoc = new Document(pdf);

        Document tiffDoc = null;

        byte[] bytes = null;

        try {

            if (convertPdfClient == null) convertPdfClient = new ConvertPdfServiceClient(factory);

            ToImageOptionsSpec spec = new ToImageOptionsSpec();

            spec.setImageConvertFormat(ImageConvertFormat.TIFF);

            spec.setGrayScaleCompression(GrayScaleCompression.None);

            spec.setColorCompression(ColorCompression.None);

            spec.setRgbPolicy(RGBPolicy.Off);

            spec.setCmykPolicy(CMYKPolicy.Off);

            spec.setColorSpace(ColorSpace.Monochrome);

            spec.setResolution(imageResolution);

            spec.setMonochrome(MonochromeCompression.None);

            spec.setGrayScalePolicy(GrayScalePolicy.Off);

            tiffDoc = convertPdfClient.toImage(pdfDoc, spec);               // gives only 8 bytes of tiffDoc in ES2 compared to complete 187580 with ES

            bytes = readBytes(tiffDoc, pdf.length, imageSizeMultiplier);

            setException(null);

        } catch (Exception e) {

            setException(e);

            throw new LiveCycleException("", "", e.getMessage(), "");

        } finally {

            if (pdfDoc != null) pdfDoc.dispose();

            if (tiffDoc != null) tiffDoc.dispose();

        }

        log.trace("Exiting pdf2Tiff");

        super.recordLastActivity();

        return bytes;

    }

If anyone has any idea why this might be happening, I will appreciate the help.

Memory Leak Problem at Adobe LiveCycle Server 9.0

$
0
0

Hi All,

We want to upgrade our system to 9.0. During the performance test we have found memory Leak problem at ALS 9.0. I explain the detailed problematic issue below. Is there any body who has any suggest?

We have Adobe Livecycle ES2 9.0 SP2 installed on WAS 6.1. But also WAS on Windows Server 2008 R2. We call java web services from .Net Web service for generating PDFs.

On Java side “com/adobe/internal/pdftoolkit/services/javascript/GibsonMemoryTracki ng” class is causing Memory Leak problem at server.

Our .Net Codes. I copied below. First we generate PDF then we convert this pdf to static pdf.

First We call the GeneratePDF function.

publicstaticbool GeneratePdf(Document document, byte[] pdfTemplate)

    {

        try

        {

            //Create a FormDataIntegrationService object and set authentication values

            FormDataIntegrationService formDataIntegrationClient = newFormDataIntegrationService();

            formDataIntegrationClient.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential(Settings.ALCUserName, Settings.ALCPassword);

            //Import XDP XML data into an XFA PDF document

            ALCFormDataIntegrationService.BLOB inXMLData = new ALCFormDataIntegrationService.BLOB();

            //Populate the BLOB object

            inXMLData.binaryData = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(document.XmlData);

            //Create a BLOB that represents the input PDF form

            ALCFormDataIntegrationService.BLOB inPDFForm = new ALCFormDataIntegrationService.BLOB();

            inPDFForm.binaryData = pdfTemplate;

            //Import data into the PDF form

            ALCFormDataIntegrationService.BLOB results = formDataIntegrationClient.importData(inPDFForm, inXMLData);

            document.PdfData = results.binaryData;

            Utility.Log("GeneratePdf", "Pdf generated successfully.", LogLevel.Info);

            returntrue;

        }

        catch (Exception ex)

        {

            document.ReturnCode = "22";

            document.ReturnMsg = "Exception on generating the pdf";

            Utility.Log("GeneratePdf", "Exception: " + ex.Message, LogLevel.Error);

            returnfalse;

        }

    }

Then We call the ConvertPDF function.

publicstaticbool ConvertPdf(Document document)

    {

        try

        {

            //Create a OutputServiceService object

            OutputServiceService outputClient = newOutputServiceService();

            outputClient.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential(Settings.ALCUserName, Settings.ALCPassword);

            //Create a BLOB object

            ALCOutputService.BLOB inData = new ALCOutputService.BLOB();

            //Populate the BLOB object

            inData.binaryData = document.PdfData;

            //Set rendering run-time options

            RenderOptionsSpec renderOptions = newRenderOptionsSpec();

            renderOptions.cacheEnabled = true;

            //Create a non-interactive PDF document

            ALCOutputService.BLOB results = outputClient.transformPDF(inData, TransformationFormat.PDF, PDFARevisionNumber.Revision_1, false, null, PDFAConformance.B, false);

            document.PdfData = results.binaryData;

            Utility.Log("ConvertPdf", "Pdf converted successfully.", LogLevel.Info);

            returntrue;

        }

        catch (Exception ex)

        {

            document.ReturnCode = "22";

            document.ReturnMsg = "Exception on converting dynamic pdf to static pdf";

            Utility.Log("ConvertPdf", "Exception: " + ex.Message, LogLevel.Error);

            returnfalse;

        }

    }

OutputService.generatePDFOutput XDP location question

$

0

Hello,

I am using Adobe Output Service to merge XML document stream to an XDP file using Web Services API in Java. Had to use Web services as the app I am developing is on WAS 6.0 and Adobe LiveCycle Server is at WAS 6.1. The client application is on a different server than Adobe.

My question:

While invoking the output service from the client application, can I pass the XDP location relative to the server I am invoking the web service call? I mean to ask if the XDP can be included in the EAR file of my application and passed to the output service.generatePDFOutput method to do the merge.

I got an error when I did this. However, when I placed the XDP templates on the Forms Server, the call works.I want to be able to place the XDP files on a server other than Adobe if possible as our Adobe Server is an Enterprise Server and we want to keep application specific forms, data to a minimal.

Please advice.

Thanks.

Lost Prepopulated Data when Flattening a Signed PDF

$

Hi Experts there,

Here's the process. I am using Java API with reference to the LC online QuickStart 8.2. New to LC world.

Step 1: Prepopulate a dynamic form(PDF) which is created in LC Designer 8.2 using the LC Form ES. (Success)

Step 2: Programatically add a digital signature field into the form and sign it using the LC Digital Signature ES. (Success)

Step 3: Try to Flatten the signed PDF but got an output pdf with all the data fields empty except the signature field using the LC Output ES. (Fail)

Any suggestions? The signed PDF form is attached.

<ConferenceReg.pdf_3411072e-0ee1-44c6-9d38-60082bd8929ij_11_signed.pdf >

I did switch Step 2 and Step 3 and tested "flatten-first, then sign". It worked. However, this way, the flatten output gave me two pages instead of one - the source pdf has only one page. Among the two pages, the first page is what I wanted, but the second one is a blank form which is exactly same as the first page. Where does this blank page come from? Was there something wrong when I generated the PDF form in LC Designer? I did nothing but using the default template - Conference Registration!

Please help. The original PDF form and the flatten output file are attached.

<ConferenceReg.pdf>

Thanks a lot!

ES3 Output getting java.io.IOException: error=12, Cannot allocate memory

Hello,

We just upgraded to ES3, and for load testing, I submitted 1000 xml files to a watch folder.  The process that picks up the files merges the data with a template and dispatches the documents to a printer.  We had this same memory issue in the past on an older version of LiveCycle, but we increased the swap space according to http://blogs.adobe.com/livecycle/2010/05/livecycle_formsivs_and_output i.html and the problem went away.

Here's what our current swap space is:

Swap:  4200912k total,  2478116k used,  1722796k free,   932596k cached

Is there a good way to resolve this error?  Or are we supposed to bump up the swap even higher now?

Thanks,

Ryan
